ABOUT BILL ESSERT

Throughout his varied professional life, Bill has infused his work with a keen attention to detail and aesthetic.  After graduating from Northwestern University as a student of music, Bill pursued a vigorous professional career playing trumpet with various symphonies, orchestras, and bands. Ten years later, his professional pursuits took a new direction, leveraging his interests and skills to become a licensed contractor with a specific emphasis and devotion to preservation of architecture unique to Northern California.  His expertise and demonstrated commitment to maintaining architectural integrity earned his company contracts to work on numerous homes and buildings of architectural significance in the region. Bill has also served on the Design Review and Historic Preservation Commission for the Town of Sonoma.

In recent years, Bill has become a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and started Bay Area Grab Bar (BGB) borne out of his desire to create safe, artful living spaces for seniors seeking to enjoy security and independence at home. His passion for this line of work started years back when his mom, Mary, took a severe fall. While Mary was in recovery, Bill restructured and redesigned her home to prevent further accidents from happening again. What started as a son’s duty led to a professional pursuit to create thoughtfully designed, aesthetically pleasing safety-related installations for seniors. . Each project’s unique challenges and a high customer satisfaction rating reinforce for Bill the importance of this work and the personal satisfaction of creating a safer home environment for seniors in our community.    Bill is also an Advisory Board Member for Pathway Home Solution and Home Renewed Ventures, and a Balance Ambassador for Zibrio. In his spare time, Bill  volunteers at Petaluma Hospice and Vintage House and continue to play his trumpet throughout the North Bay.
